Another Sock…

for a camera! I finally got around to offering to make a sock for my sister’s camera. The thought had first occurred to me when I finished knitting mine; making another camera sock would be the perfect use for the last bit of this fun self-striping sock yarn. I didn’t know then just how little that last bit of yarn would soon seem!

I first thought I might have a problem when I compared the dimensions of the two cameras. Mine: 1″ x 2 3/8″ x 3 1/2″ and Hers: 1 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ Oh, boy. Her camera’s circumference was about fifty percent larger and the camera was a little longer too! gulp. Did I have enough yarn to knit such a super-sized camera sock?

I had less than a yard of yarn left when I finished and I tucked it inside the sock. Unfortunately, with it out of sight, I completely forgot about photographing it. I had included the yarn, thinking she might want to add a loop and button closure to her sock, to assure the end of her gigantic camera will stay well-covered!

  1. Pretty! This reminds me of a sock with a flap I knitted for an expensive pair of sunglasses.

I think this yarn is quite pretty too. In fact, I’m tempted to buy another ball before they stop manufacturing this particular colorway.
These little socks are so useful; it’s nice to know we can make one to fit any item we’d like to surround with a protective layer of knit!
