Good Night Sandy

Just a quick note to say we’re fine and, although we lost internet access for a few hours, we kept our electricity! Whowhee – we are so grateful! Many in CT are without, 634,000 homes at the peak.

Sandy’s sustained winds in our area reached 40 mph (64 kph), gusting to 62 (100). She has quieted enough that we should be able to fall asleep now. (12:50 a.m.) Today’s apprehension was very tiring.

Weather forecast – we can expect to see the sun again on Saturday. 😀

P.S. The link goes to Connecticut Light and Power’s outage map which updates every 15 minutes. The light grey areas are serviced by other electric companies.

So great to hear you both are doing fine. Electricity is one thing … your lives are another! God bless!

    • We are blessed! Not only are we safe, but everything looks ‘normal’ around our place, no damage that I can see. The yard just seems a little bare because I gathered all the birdhouses, decorative bunnies and watering cans yesterday so they wouldn’t blow away. And our basement is dry!! 🙂

Things are far different down on Connecticut’s shoreline, though. – We’re an hour inland. – Storm surge combined with high tide at full moon = major flooding there!

Thank you for checking in! I was worried about you!! Love those sunny blue skies after bad weather.

  5. Glad to hear it. We’ve got power too, but at least two of my friends lost power yesterday afternoon.

Glad to hear you are past that ordeal, for such a massive storm it wasn’t very fast ( say thank God) lol… I’m from Fl ’nuff said…

    • All the dark houses lining dark streets around us are small local reminders of how fortunate we are, but a single national newscast quickly snaps things into a different focus! gasp. The Huge amount of damage, the clean-up!! We are extremely thankful.

Good to know you are ok! Our Southern hearts are out for you all up there! Prayers still being lifted!
