2013 Ripple #28 – Almond Joy

Sadly, my eleventh baby ripple has no name. Its colors immediately reminded me of   ‘CopperTone’ and ‘Almond’ from the seventies,

but I already called 2012’s #14 “That 70’s Ripple”. tsk. And I have no other idea. So. . . I’m hoping you will share some name ideas with me!

The yarn colors ‘proper’ names are Red Heart Sport ‘Wood Brown’, Brunswick Fore-‘n-Aft Sport ‘Aran’, and anonymous thin rust. Because I had so little of these yarns, only 11 1/2 ounces, I did two fewer Eyelet Ripple repeats across, but, as you can see, I still ran out of ‘Aran’ two rows early.

The resulting blanket, only 32″ across and 31″ top to bottom, will work best for a tiny newborn baby!

  1. Perfect for a tiny, baby boy! I bet these sport blankies are really soft!

How about naming it Maple and Brown Sugar?

    I was thinking Chocolate Sundae.

    What about Almond Joy?
You mentioned Almond in your opening paragraph and I get such joy reading your blog, it just popped into my head and I thought I should share.

I have spent the last few months reading your blog from the very beginning, as I only joined you a year ago or so. I have to say, I truly enjoyed reading a few entries every day and I looked forward to doing so each evening before I went to bed. I am missing it! A few times a week will just have to suffice! You have such a lovely writing style and you inspire me with all of the work you put into things to help make other people’s lives a bit brighter, not to mention your thriftiness! I, too, am a Michigan gal. I live close enough to Mary Maxim to venture over a couple of times a year – I have to make sure I don’t get there too often, as it is a divine store in which to shop (with far more goodies than the catalog contains) and I have found myself carried away many times! Between their tent sales and their clearance section, you can easily bust a budget!

Thanks for sharing your “corner” of the world and for being such a positive inspiration!

    • Congratulations, Barb!
DH and I picked your suggestion of ‘Almond Joy’ as the name for Ripple #28. Thank you so much for sharing your idea with us!
And thank you also for the rest of your wonderful comment.

Wow, it’s been a looong time since anyone has mentioned reading my blog from its beginning. Not surprising considering the time commitment required now that I’ve been posting here for 2 1/2 years! I’m so happy to hear how you enjoyed the long process. I’ve read a few blogs in the same way so I think I understand how you’re feeling now that you’ve caught up to the newest post – kind of like the book ended before you were ready? lol.

Never in a millions years did I dream of someone ever describing my writing as having a ‘lovely style’!! Thank You. ((hug))

I see that Mary Maxim’s tent sale is coming soon! Is your budget prepared?
I’ll have to mention the sale to my sister who still lives in Michigan.

This is a hard one! First thought that came to mind was “Cherry Cola”….the other suggestions are pretty good!….Kathy
