I was surprised to find a large somewhat battered cardboard box in front of our garage the other day.
We aren’t expecting any packages in the mail! Let’s see who it’s addressed to.
Why, it’s for ME!
And, It’s from The Yarn Fairy. What a Wonderful Surprise!!
HaPpY, HaPpY Yarn Dance. lol.
Wow! What better incentive could I have for getting back to making Regular Ripples with Regular Worsted Weight yarns then a box stuffed with Beautiful Colors, including lots of deep rich ones for autumn ripples?
Thank You, Yarn Fairy!!
I have to admit I immediately ruffled through all the yarn and started making color groupings – I’m such a kid! – so I had to put everybody back in the box to take that ‘before’ shot. And that’s when I discovered a second surprise,
Hooks!!. . .
shiny aluminum hooks in my favorite sizes, G through I. Thanks Again, Yarn Fairy!!
Oh, I’ve never seen this particular yarn label before, ‘Red Heart Comfort’.
It looks like a bit has been used from both skeins, which were originally one pounders, but, from the feel, there’s still plenty here for a camo ripple! BTW – Both are less taupe and more olive green in real life. Some colors are just wicked hard to capture with a camera!
If I add these lighter colors, also from ‘The Box’, and some darker ones from my chairty stash, maybe dark green and brown, I can probably stretch the variegated enough to accent two camo ripples. I know there are foster boys who like camo anything, so two will be Very Good!
Let’s see what other color combos I can make.
Blues and Greens is an easy one.
Then there are the Country Colors
and Purples and Pinks.
It’s not often I consider using two variegated yarns in one blanket, but this could be a fun combination to play with.
These three yarns are so similar in value, you may not have noticed that the skein second from the left is a variegated. I think this combo needs some white and a darker purple, but not as dark as the one in the Purple and Pink combo above.
Hopefully I’ll find just the right one in the attic stash.
Thank you, thank you, dear Yarn Fairy for a great start on at least FIVE New Ripples,
plus these extras: Red Heart ‘Burgundy’ and ‘Maize’, as well as more Windrush ‘Maroon’, like in the Country Colors combo.
What a great surprise ๐
Wow! So very neat. I absolutely love surprises, especially when they involve YARN!!!!
You, and me too! ๐
That’s just too much fun in one box!
You made me laugh, out loud! ๐
And then I thought. . .
What a great title for a blog post – “Too much fun in one box!”
What a nice surprise! What a kind heart you have Yarn Fairy! Enjoy the day! Kathy ๐
How fun!
what an utterly delightful suprise!! I bet you’re desperate to get “stuck in”
It’s good to learn something new every day, right?
I had to go look up the meaning of “stuck in”, lol. . .As in โto get stuck inโ, to become involved in working on something.
So, yeah!, I am desperate to get “stuck in”!! ๐
Too busy at the moment, but I’m really itchin’ to start on a ripple made with some of my ‘new’ yarn as soon as things slow down a bit.
P.S. You’re gonna laugh at the path my brain took as I pondered the meaning of “stuck in” – first it reminded me of “snowed in”, which is always a good excuse to start a new craft project, so I was pretty much on the right track at the beginning but then I shifted to the thought of mud, as in getting “stuck in” mud, lol, and that’s when decided I really needed some help from Google.
That is a nice surprise, enjoy!!! ๐
